Technical Success and Clinical Outcomes of Pedal Serration Angioplasty for Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia

For patients with the most severe forms of peripheral artery disease, saving a limb can come down to reaching the smallest vessels in the foot. UT Southwestern vascular surgeon Michael Siah, M.D., recently co-authored a landmark multicenter study in the Journal of Endovascular Therapy examining a specialized technique called pedal serration angioplasty for patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI). The study,  the largest of its kind, found high rates of technical success with minimal vessel injury, and wound healing outcomes that outpaced prior research.
